Mid-Level Religious Elites and Ideological Continuity in Postwar Czechoslovakia

I investigate how clerics who were embedded in fascist structures adapted to communism, acting as ideological brokers, survivors, and political actors across regimes. Drawing on trial records, security archives, oral history, and religious press, the project maps how religious elites navigated shifting regimes without abandoning influence. It also traces their roles in transnational exile and resistance networks, from Pacem in Terris to anti-Communist émigré circles.
